The Founders

The Founders

Dr. Jon and Lorna Kardatzke of Wichita, Kansas, are the founders of the Museum of World Treasures. Since 2001, they donated much of their collection, a great deal of operating capital, and a profound number of hours to the nonprofit organization.

Dr. Jon was a retired physician who specialized in family practice medicine for 35 years. He started his collection of historical artifacts when he was 16 years old. Dr. Jon and Lorna loved to travel and study history. Through the years, they visited a vast number of historical sites and added to the collection. They shared a passion about education for students of all ages. This motivated the couple to start a museum and share their priceless collection with visitors from all over the world. The Museum now represents over 250 different collectors. Without the Kardatzke's early love and attention, the Museum of World Treasures would not exist. For this we are forever grateful and give thanks for their kindness, diligence, and vision. The Museum of World Treasures (FEIN 48-1242622) received it's 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization designation on April 18, 2001.

Dr. Jon Kardatzke passed away on February 25, 2022. Lorna Kardatzke still lives in Wichita, KS and remains involved with the Museum.
