Did you know the Great Plains region of the United States was once covered by a large ocean? In this expansive body of water lived many prehistoric sea creatures. In the Sea Creatures of the Plains exhibit, observe the fossilized remains of these monstrous creatures that were all found in the Great Plains.
Logan the Tylosaur once patrolled the ocean over Kansas, and his remains were found in Logan County, Kansas! Tylosaur fossils are so common in this area, that they are one of the official Kansas state fossils.
The Xiphactinus fish is one of the most vicious-looking fossils on display. With razor sharp teeth and bulging eyes, even his skeleton looks ready to devour prey in a single gulp.
