Ancient Egypt
“The mode of embalming, according to the most perfect process, is the following: They take a crooked piece of iron…”
Thus begins ancient historian Herodotus’ account on the process of mummification. In this Museum of World Treasures exhibit favorite, find several examples of ancient Egyptian coffins, figurines, jewelry, and animal mummies. The finale of a visit to this exhibit is entry into the tomb room to come face-to-face with the remains of two 3,000-year-old female mummies.
