Coffee With the Curator - 1789 to Today: Morgan Horses in American History
Thursday, January 21, 2021 | 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Did you know that the Morgan Horse was the first official horse breed in the United States? Did you know that Morgans have influenced other major breeds, including the American Quarter Horse, Tennessee Walking Horse, Hackney Horse, and the Standardbred?
Please join us for January's Coffee With the Curator presentation, "1789 to Today: Morgan Horses in American History," presented by 18-year-old Lucy Enns!
A Wichita native, Lucy is currently a student at Friends University. She has been involved with Morgan Horses since she was four years old, and considers herself lucky to own two lovely Morgans of her very own. In October 2020, Lucy and her carriage horse "Mabelene" placed in the top three in the World Championship, held at the Morgan Grand National in Oklahoma City.
Lucy is a two-time American Morgan Horse Association Youth of the Year Contest Finalist, and was named the 2020 US Junior Equestrian of the Year in December. She has always loved history, especially when it comes to horses, and has spent the last two years sharing the history of the Morgan Horse as part of her responsibilities as the American Morgan Horse Association Youth Council's President of the Central Region.
