Coffee With the Curator - Is Conspiracy Witchcraft? Comparing Belief in Conspiracies with Concepts of the Occult

Thursday, October 21, 2021 | 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Please join us for this month's Coffee With the Curator presentation, "Is Conspiracy Witchcraft? Comparing Belief in Conspiracies with Concepts of the Occult," presented by Dr. Kartikeya Saboo!

In his presentation, Dr. Kartikeya Saboo will explore the structure of conspiracy theories and compare them to the structure of the theories of the occult. It will provide a historical and anthropological overview of the phenomenon of witchcraft, and invite attendees to reflect on the political realities of today.

About the Speaker:

Born and raised in India, Dr. Kartikeya Saboo began his professional career working on financial inclusion for the poorest of the poor in India. His work was reported in a NY Times Bestseller and led to change in national policy. Then he conducted research on the impact of the financial crisis and recession in Newark, New Jersey for his Ph.D. He is a political and psychological anthropologist, and came to Wichita State University via teaching and research stints at Rutgers Center for Race and Ethnicity and The City College, New York.
