Preserving Humanity: MOWT's Mummies as a Call to Introspection
Prepare for a captivating journey guided by Kristin Martin, a passionate advocate for preserving our shared history through her work at Museum of World Treasures. Drawing from 10+ years of involvement at MOWT, Kristin will lead us in an examination of why the mummies Baka and Braided Hair Lady are significant to our lives today.
In this immersive presentation, we'll explore the depths of the mummies' narratives, from their lives and mummification to the people who discovered their bodies to those of us who observe and preserve them today. Kristin's presentation will be enriched by a comprehensive exploration of historical materials, encompassing CT scans, the meticulous findings of Egyptologists, well-preserved newspaper accounts detailing their travels, records from former museum exhibitions, and a vast trove of artifacts records, all contributing to a nuanced understanding of their compelling narratives.
As we delve into the preservation of these ancient bodies, we'll contemplate the profound impact they have on our perception of humanity. This thought-provoking talk will invite you to reevaluate the essence of being human and inspire a deeper connection to the enduring stories of Baka and Braided Hair Lady.
