Join us at 1:30pm on first Wednesdays for our monthly Senior Wednesday. This months speaker is Leo Olivia giving a talk entitled Women Writers on the Santa Fe Trail. No need to register; simply walk in! Tickets are $4 plus tax or free for Museum members. Light refreshments provided.
Talk Summary: Women Writers on the Santa Fe Trail
A few literate women who wrote about life on the Santa Fe Trail provide a different perspective than the men whose focus was business, miles traveled per day, and any interruption that delayed the journey.
About the Speaker: Leo Oliva
Leo Oliva is a retired professor of history at Fort Hays State University. He is the author of a dozen books about overland trails, frontier military history, and Kansas history. He is a founding member of the Santa Fe Trail Association and edited the association’s quarterly journal, Wagon Tracks, for 25 years. He wrote a weekly newspaper column, “Our Kansas Heritage” for 22 years.
