The Museum of World Treasures (MOWT) will host a town-hall meeting on Thursday, November 19 where the community of Wichita will see what MOWT envisions for its future, and provide feedback to help shape the local museum.

About to embark on its fifteenth year in operation, MOWT is in the planning stages for extensive remodeling, designed to increase the museum’s ability to provide educational opportunities for children and adults alike.  Recently, MOWT hired Schaefer, Johnson, Cox, and Frey Architecture (SJCF) to help plan a large renovation project for the third floor of the Museum. The main goals for this project are to increase curatorial space, redesign and improve the Children’s Activity Center, improve the banquet space for special events, and provide an academic wing for research.

“Penny for Your Thoughts” will be an invitation-only event where people from the community can take part in the exciting future that is being planned for MOWT. Starting at 5:00 p.m. will be a cocktail hour where guests will be encouraged to visit with Museum staff, peruse the architectural renderings, and enjoy appetizers and drinks compliments of Green Acres Market and Jacob’s Liquor. At 5:45 p.m., guests will hear an architectural overview of the plans, and will then have a Q&A period with the architects and staff. Following will be a session for small groups where visitors can share their thoughts, ideas, concerns, and feedback.

Invitations are required for this event to assist in planning. If you are interested in obtaining an invitation, call the Museum of World Treasures offices at 316.263.1311.  Please ask for Crystal Neihoff, Development Director. The postcard invitation must be presented for entry.
