Royal Babies - Then and Now

May 11, 2019

Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor }

Introduction

On May 6th, 2019, the world welcomed a new member of the British Royal Family: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

The first sneak peak of the new baby was produced on instagram, and within hours #royalbaby was trending on twitter.

Despite his family's ancient pedigree, it was clear from the beginning that little Master Archie would be a modern phenomenon.

In the first public photo of Mountbatten-Windsor, his parents lovingly present him to his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II as well as his maternal grandmother Doria Ragland.

But this was not the first royal baby photo. In fact, since 1860, when Queen Victoria was the first royal to make her family photographs public, there has been a myriad of new-born, christening, and birthday pictures of royal tots.

Keep reading for a snapshot of royal baby history.
