China Before emperors

China is often recognized primarily as an empire; however, its historical development long predates its unification into a centralized state. The civilization’s cultural, political, and philosophical foundations were established over many centuries prior to imperial consolidation. Numerous enduring concepts originated during these early periods and have continued to shape Chinese society in significant ways. Many of these influential ideas can be traced back to periods predating the reign of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor. This discussion will examine ideas and developments that have had a lasting and significant impact on humanity, art, and history.

Speaker Bio - Aliessia Nanxue Liu

Passionate about history and culture, Aliessia Liu is originally from China and has lived in several countries abroad, leading to experiences that inspired her to value sharing and preserving cultural heritage. Her love for museums began at age eight through a school program, which also marked the start of her long-term volunteer journey. Since moving to Wichita in 2014, she has actively volunteered at the Museum of World Treasures, participating in tours and events while continuing to deepen her passion for history and culture.
