July Senior Wednesday: Cold War Anti-Submarine Warefare Operations

Wednesday, July 6, 2022 | 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM

Join us Wednesday, June 1, 2022 for our monthly Senior Wednesday. This month our topic is "DCold War Anti-Submarine Warefare Operations" presented by Mike Michalski.

Learn what it was really like to hunt for the elusive “Red October.”

Mike Michalski is a native of Philadelphia and joined the Navy after graduating from Drexel University in 1968.  He was a P-3C Orion pilot during the Cold War decade of the ‘70’s, flying out of forward deployed bases in Iceland, Sicily, Azores, Spain, Bermuda, Puerto Rico and Crete.  Following his tour of duty with Patrol Squadron 56 in Jacksonville he was assigned to the staff of the Task Force Commander of Patrol Squadrons in the Mediterranean theater.   His presentation will give attendees a sense of what it was like to fly a P-3 covertly over vast ocean stretches searching for the equally covert Soviet submarine force.  His anecdotes will entertain people of all backgrounds and experience level.

Choose from two ways to join the presentation:

In-person: Join us at the Museum for Mike's live, in-person presentation! Refreshments provided. No need to register — simply walk in! This is free for members and $4 for non-members.

Virtually via YouTube Livestream (Members Only link will be sent the day before the program to view.)
