Join us Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 1:30pm for our monthly Senior Wednesday. This month our topic is "Plants & Civilizations" presented by MOWT Volunteer Debra Trock.
Plants & Civilizations Synopsis
This talk will give an overview of the very interesting field of "Ethnobotany" or how plants are used by people. We will learn about the plants that were domesticated by our early ancestors which still provide most of our food today. We will also talk about plants that our ancestors used for fibers to make clothing, textiles, and cordage. And we will learn why it is that plants make the kinds of compounds that can be used for medicine, and how we use those plants today.
