Senior Wednesday: Walking With the Wichita Pioneers

Wednesday, February 5, 2020 | 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM

Join us in welcoming speaker Barb Myers, author of "Walking With the Wichita Pioneers" and inaugural speaker for Museum of World Treasures’ new Senior Wednesday program time slot!

"Different people refer to death differently. African Americans call it home-going. Native Americans and Pagans call it returning to Mother Earth. Jews refer to burial as 'ashes to ashes.' Some services are somber affairs, and some play Dixieland music. Some people have huge markers, others don't want one at all. But one thing is always the same: We all die, and we all deserve a kind and respectful burial, in a cemetery plot of our own choosing.

This is the story of one such cemetery - the oldest cemetery in Wichita: Highland Cemetery."

Admission is $4 per person, but Museum members are free. Fee covers the cost of Museum admission, an educational talk, and light refreshments!

Senior Wednesdays are informational and entertaining sessions designed for active seniors and offered by a collaboration of twelve institutions. The Museum offers a Senior Wednesday program once a month on the first Wednesday at 1:30 pm. To discover more Senior Wednesday programs, visit seniorwednesday.org.
